ENSO is a moving image work that studies the natural processes and energy exchanges that occur in the creation of an ocean wave.
It tracks the journey of a parcel of energy with a sequence of 11 unique representative shots. Beginning with the gravitational force that drives fusion reactions in the sun, each shot has it’s own soundscape that is tied to the visual environment.
The concept is based on the Zen Buddhist philosophy of interbeing. This philosophy states that deep insight can be gained by observing the interdependence of natural systems. The work aims to connect the audience to this insight in it’s final shot.
